The initiative Go Orange
for Tibet was founded as a reaction of the brutal suppression of the peaceful
uprising taking place in March 2008 in Tibet.
The aim of the initiative is to use the color orange as a means to create
awareness about the terrible human rights situation in Tibet.
Sport:
The initiative Go Orange for Tibet has proved with it's actions that
sports people also have the ambition to take initiative for human rights.
Thousands of runners were running already during sports events with
an orange ribbon for Tibet. Shortly before the Olympic Games in Peking,
it is regarded an important sign and gives reason to hope that sports
people who will be going to the Olympic Games in Peking will take an
example in this.
To point the way
By wearing the orange ribbon in daily life, one can make many people
aware of the situation in Tibet and China can be shown that one does
care for human rights.
International Pressure
Without international pressure, China will not change it's way of action
in Tibet, this is proved by 60 years of suppression and systematic destruction
of Tibetan culture by China, since the beginning of the occupation of
Tibet 1949. A cultural genocide is taking place.
In the democratic
nations of the west, economic lobbyists choose the course of bilateral
relations with China. This is where Go Orange for Tibet wants to begin.
It has to be brought to the minds of the politicians of the western
industrialised nations, that Tibet is a real concern in the hearts of
the people and that they shall finally act accordingly.
